UCOL Fire and Ice Fashion Show 2009

Well last night I went to the fashion show at the Palmerston North campus, this was for the certificate in fashion students to show their work. The atrium was packed full of people to watch the show and it was set up pretty well with the big runway and the random guy on a motorbike.. not sure what that was for but it was cool anyway.

Now my skills in photography were a massive fail! if you have any better shots I would love to put them in the gallery. I was told by a photographer that fashion shows are pretty hard to shoot anyway.. I am pretty sure he said that just to make me feel better though.

The girls all looked pretty amazing with their outfits on and in my opinion done a good job with the whole runway walk. I especially liked the part where they pulled out a few guys to wear nicely decorated bra’s (not because i’m into that sort of thing, it was just funny)

Well anyway, I am impressed with what I saw and can’t wait to see the fashion show ‘Frillseekers’ in Whanganui this Friday, although this time I think it would be better to take a photographer with me!

UCOL Student Association at Last Tuesday Lunchbox 2009

It was (well is, there are still people outside) the last tuesday lunchbox in Palmerston North today, lots of students getting a free feed and re-enroling for next year. There were giveaways, sushi, bbq and more.

There will be plenty more next year if you re-enrol so you should do it now! go to http://www.ucol.ac.nz and apply online. Anyway, a few more photos from the Tuesday Lunchbox here

Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging Students at their Exhibition

Just the other week it was the BAVI & Fine Furniture exhibition opening! Some of the work is pretty amazing so I suggest going to have a look before the 13th of December. The exhibition is at Te Manawa in Palmerston North and is free to view so check it out.

Some work I would suggest checking out is Oh Hi, http://www.ohhi.co.nz is the web site but this is a project by Jem Cheer who has created a free publication for the creative community in Palmerston North and its fan club is growing rapidly! The first issue has already sold out (well its free.. so it hasn’t sold out) however you can download a copy from her web site.
