Twenty eight Certificate in Fashion and Beauty (FAB) Level 1 students will present their only public fashion show this Thursday at the Warehouse.

The FAB students will model on the catwalk wearing a range of new season garments from the Warehouse. The students will model Warehouse Colourful Tees that they have decorated using fabric colouring techniques such as tie-dye, batik, fabric painting and screen-printing.

UCOL Fashion lecturer Sheran Merritt says, “The FAB students have been working extremely hard, practicing their catwalk strut and sewing their own creations.”

The students have been very excited about making skirts from a conventional pattern that they ‘tweaked’ to their own innovative and different designs.

The Colourful Tees and participation in the catwalk show forms part of the students’ assessment for their 18 week Fashion module. The Certificate in Fashion and Beauty includes four modules; hairdressing, beauty, fashion and careers and personal development.

There will be a People’s Choice award for the best ‘hair-up’, judged by the public for the best hair style displayed on hairdressing mannequins. The hair-ups were styled by the students during their hairdressing module earlier this year. “They are looking forward to putting all the components of their fashion and beauty modules together into this amazing show” says Sheran.

When: Thursday October 6 from 12.00pm – 2.00pm.
